Privacy Policy

Flathead Fisher ("the App") is a fly fishing guide application for the Flathead Valley region of Montana. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App, available on iOS, Android, and the web at flathead-fisher.vercel.app.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: If you create an account or subscribe, we may collect your name, email address, and payment-related identifiers managed through our payment processor (RevenueCat / Apple / Google).
• Support Communications: If you contact us for support, we collect the information you provide in your message.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Data: We may collect anonymous usage analytics such as which features are used, session duration, and general interaction patterns.
• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.
• Location Data: The App includes an optional "Locate Me" feature on the Access Map that requests your device's GPS location to show nearby fishing access points. This location data is used only on your device to center the map and is never transmitted to our servers, stored, or shared with third parties. You can use the App without granting location access.

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect precise geolocation, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, health data, or financial information beyond what is handled by the App Store / Google Play subscription systems.

2. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services:

• RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat receives anonymized purchase data from Apple and Google. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive or store your credit card or payment details.
• USGS Water Services API: Provides real-time river flow data. This is a public government API; no personal data is sent to USGS.
• National Weather Service API: Provides weather forecast data. This is a public government API; no personal data is sent to NWS.
• Anthropic API: Powers optional AI-generated fishing reports. Queries sent to Anthropic do not contain personal identifying information. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the App's functionality
• Process and manage your subscription
• Improve the App's features and user experience
• Respond to support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: With third-party service providers (RevenueCat, hosting providers) who assist in operating the App, subject to confidentiality obligations.
• Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process.
• Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide the App's services and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Subscription-related data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
